14 Feb Three Questions to Get Employees to Work Harder
People come to work for themselves, not for you. At the end of the day, beyond their paycheck, they want one thing: significance. How can you help them achieve this? If you can show them that their work makes a difference, then they will work harder to get the job done.
Here are three questions you can use to help them do this:
1. What can I do to help you reach your goals?
This is the quickest way to get the best results. If they see you as a partner to getting the job done, then you are on their team as well as them being on your team.
2. What do you think is the best way to do it?
If they don’t know how to do the job, put it on them. If you tell them, it’s the boss’ idea. If they come up with the answer, then they own it.
3. Is there anything keeping you from accomplishing this goal that is within your control?
This coaching question will help them to identify the barriers and then you can help them find solutions.
